You have something of his.

Two hours of racking my brain hadn’t turned up anything concrete. It wasn’t that the list of possibilities contained nothing, but rather that it was long. Farah and I spent months fucking up all of his plans and confiscating items. Hell, he could even be talking about Jax, one of his former Void subordinates.

The biggest and baddest of things we’d taken was the canister of nanobot replicators that I’d offloaded to Jace Hughes. From what I’d been told, they were instrumental in winning the war against Celestials.

We all agreed there was no way Kaska didn’t know that little fact. Thanks to his high rank and position within the Sarkonian government, most Alliance activities would be open knowledge for him.

That really only left one item of grave importance. One that he could plausibly get back at any rate.

The ingot.

Well, the ingot and the weapon it was meant to power. Both were safe in the Solaris Initiative’s custody, being studied by scientists. Still, I couldn’t help but be skeptical. So far, while possessing immense power, the weapon Kaska and his scientists devised appeared to only be good for a single use.

That made it kind of worthless, at least in my opinion. If you blew your wad on a critical target that turned the tide, that would work fine. Otherwise it was just a pretty explosion.

Nothing made sense anymore. There were so many loose threads in this damn case that I could have knitted a blanket, if I knew how to knit.
